Founded in 1976 by the Martin family, Spes in Deo Franciscan Family Retreat Center, Inc. is a small contemplative community run by secular Franciscans, offering Franciscan hospitality.
The retreat house is a four-bedroom, two-bath geodesic dome, with fully equipped kitchen for those who wish to prepare their own meals. It can accommodate up to 5 overnight guests.
Private directed or non-directed individual retreats are our specialty.
For directed retreats, the following are available:
- Spiritual Direction
- Centering prayer
- Dreamwork
- Creative Discovery in fine arts, gardening, and music
- Library of spiritual books, tapes, and audio programs
Weekend retreats with an introduction to Centering Prayer are available for individuals (small groups by request).
The director graduated from the Benedictine School for Spiritual Directors at Pecos and was trained by Fr. Thomas Keating, Snowmass Monastery, to teach Centering Prayer.
Retreatants are invited to share the peace of our tiny chapel, take quiet strolls through the park, gardens, orchard; hikes on the nearby state lands, and participate in our work, prayer, and play.
SPES IN DEO FRANCISCAN FAMILY RETREAT CENTER, INC. IS A NON PROFIT RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION LISTED IN THE OFFICIAL CATHOLIC DIRECTORY, DIOCESE OF PUEBLO. ORGANIZED UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF COLORADO, THE CENTER IS TAX EXEMPT.
